This session addresses the Common Core standard for teaching science through inquiry-based methodologies, and explore its impact for teaching students with visual impairments. This webinar provides an overview of the standards and the "5-E format" of an inquiry lesson, and survey recent research on inquiry-based education for students with visual impairments.

PRESENTERS SUMMARY:
Tiffany Wild is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. Her previous research into the conceptual understand of students with visual impairments has reached across the science curricula. Co-presenting with Dr. Wild is Margilee P. Hilson, an expert in early childhood science teaching methods and a researcher in teaching science through inquiry.
