Compass Program: Informational Meeting and Registration

Questions about Compass, a Perkins' virtual enrichment program for students in grades 9 - 11.

Questions about Compass? Join us for a virtual info session on February 10.

We’re now accepting applications for the 2021-22 session of Compass, our nine-month virtual enrichment program for blind and visually impaired high school students in grades 9 through 11.

The program, designed to help each student develop a plan to build up the critical academic and blindness skills necessary to reach their own post-secondary goals – from academics to independence, self-advocacy, confidence and more – is a completely new take on college and career readiness.

It’s exciting – and we know that parents, students, educators and referring professionals have questions.

We can help. Join program directors Leslie Thatcher and Kate Katulak, along with the Perkins Admissions team, for a virtual information session on Wednesday, February 10, at 4 p.m. Eastern. They’ll be prepared to answer questions regarding admissions, curriculum, time commitments and funding.

Compass: from a student’s perspective

Tom, current Compass student: “I love the support in Compass, not only the program mentors, but also that we’re weaving the students, parents, educators and VR counselors together as one network. I’m walking out with skills in a variety of areas – social connections, mentors and a new sense of what it means to be visually impaired in this time. It’s been beneficial to get blindness skills, but also to keep connecting with other visually impaired high school students with shared experiences.”

Is Compass right for your student?
