This tutorial addresses sexuality issues among children and young adults who are visually impaired and/or blind. It will include the need to establish early appropriate social and safe behaviors regarding the development of sexuality. Topics covered include prevention and intervention for physical examinations, identifying body parts, teaching modesty, showering, menstruation, masturbation, and additional resources.
This is not designed to discuss various sexual education programs, rather topics to consider prior to formalized sex education. Participants will earn 1.5 Professional Development Points, ACVREP, CTLE, or Continuing Education credits by completing an online quiz.
This is a web-based, self-guided professional development activity for TVIs, VRTs, O&Ms, Parents, Teachers of the Deafblind or Severely Impaired, and Rehabilitation Specialists.
