The Cogswell-Macy Act: A CHARGE Foundation Family Webinar

In this webinar, Mark Richert explains how the Alice Cogswell and Anne Sullivan Macy Act strengthen the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Perkins eLearning was pleased to co-host this conversation between CHARGE Syndrome Foundation families and Mark Richert, Esq., Director of Public Policy for American Foundation for the Blind, as they discussed H.R. 3535, the Alice Cogswell and Anne Sullivan Macy Act.

In this 90-minute informational session, Mark Richert explains how H.R. 3535 will strengthen the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and improve the lives of more than 500,000 children and youth who are blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind, including those who have additional disabilities.

In addition to the background and contents of the proposed bill, participants discussed approaches to legislative advocacy, and talking points for speaking with your elected representatives. This recorded teleconference includes Question and Answer sessions with the participants.
