There are 4 videos included in this training module that will expose participants how VISSIT can be used to recommend services for students with visual impairments, learn how to implement RBEI principles and strategies, and learn strategies on how to achieve “buy in” regarding ECC implementation.

Participants will earn 4.5 Professional Development Points, ACVREP, CTLE, or Continuing Education credits by viewing 4 designated videos and taking an online quiz.

This is a web-based, self-guided professional development activity for TVIs, VRTs, O&Ms, Parents, Teachers of the Deafblind or Severely Impaired, and Rehabilitation Specialists.

Learning Goals and Objectives
Upon completion of this tutorial, participants will:

  • Understand the impact of the Teacher of the Visually Impaired role on their students.
  • Understand the importance of Routines Based Early Intervention (RBEI) for children with Vision impairment/Blindness and their families.
  • Identify the purpose of a new service intensity scale for determining type and amount of service provided by itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Review strategies to help education teams with “buying in” to implementing the Expanded Core Curriculum.
