Tara Mason, Ph.D.

Tara Mason holds a Ph.D. in Special Education specializing in visual impairment, assistive technology, and coaching special education teachers. She currently works with a school district in the Boulder Valley as the Lead Special Education Instructional Coach and Program Specialist for Assistive Technology and Written Language. She lives in Lafayette, CO with her husband and two children.

Tara brings nearly twenty years of educational experience teaching in K-12 special and general education classrooms, educational programs with students spanning Early Childhood through Transition and university level teacher training. Tara has consulted with Perkins School for the Blind on a project regarding the Common Core State Standards. She works as an adjunct professor for Perkins eLearning, University of Northern Colorado and Texas Tech University teaching courses in transition, assistive technology and curriculum and instruction for students with significant support needs.

Tara has been invited to facilitate professional development nationwide regarding assistive technology, transition, and special education teaching methods. She is the founder and lead consultant for New Tech for Education, an assistive technology consulting company facilitating professional development and program evaluation of technology programs for students being served in special education.
