This activity has been revised and was originally created by Vickie Brennan, Flo Ryu and Dennis Lolli and published in the Perkins Activity and Resource Guide (1st edition, Volume 2, 1992). The second edition is available for purchase.
This activity teaches students to identify objects which have been partially hidden from view. The goal is for the student to reach for the item or verbally name it. Lessons include Concept Development and English Language Arts.

Favorite toys, objects, pictures

Covers (scarves, paper)

Present a toy, object or picture which is partially covered.

Direct the student to reach for the item or to identify it verbally.

Cut a simple picture in half and direct the student to put it back together.

Present the student with a basket filled with toys. Encourage the student to pull out each toy as you name it.

Position a pile of clean laundry on a table. Direct the student to find various articles as you name them.
