A Special Trap

Incorporating pretend play can often be a great motivator for working on simple goals and tasks!

This activity has been revised and was originally created by Kathy Heydt and Monica Allon and published in the Perkins Activity and Resource Guide (1st edition, 1992).  The second edition is available for purchase.

This activity reinforces the skills of weight shifting and moving from a squat to standing. Lessons include Adapted Physical Education.

Materials

Hula Hoop® (or rope, ribbon, flexible band)

Procedure

Hints: Protect the student from falling or bumping into obstacles. It might be helpful to perform the activities on a safe surface, such as an exercise mat.
