The following is part of a series of 6 different activities related to football, designed to be played indoors on a replica football field. These activities have been modified for students who are blind or visually impaired, including those with deafblindness or multiple disabilities.
Materials
- 2 – 4 large cones
- 7 footballs
- kicking tee or small cone
- clothes line or thin rope (optional) for trailing
Procedure
- For this activity targets are set up using bowling pins on the edge of the wedge mat.
- The center hikes the ball through his/her legs to the quarterback who turns his/her body to the side they throw with and laterally takes 3 three steps back. The quarterback then throws the football toward the set up targets at far end of turf.
- The center may also hike the ball laterally instead of through the legs.
- Have students familiarize themselves with location of targets and provide a verbal cue or sound source at targets if preferred.
