The following is part of a series of 6 different activities related to football, designed to be played indoors on a replica football field. These activities have been modified for students who are blind or visually impaired, including those with deafblindness or multiple disabilities.
Materials
- 2 – 4 large cones
- 7 footballs
- kicking tee or small cone
- clothes line or thin rope (optional) for trailing
Procedure
- Keep the same cone alignment as with the handoff activity.
- Two students start at the near cone and one at the far cone. The student at near cone (the kicker) places the football on a small cone or tee and then kicks the ball toward the student at the far cone and then walks slightly to right to the far cone.
- Student at the far cone (the returner) fields the football and walks, runs, or wheels slightly to right and back to the kicking cone (end zone for a touchdown).
- The second student at the near cone then becomes the kicker.
- Repeat the sequence for as many repetitions as you like.
Variations
- Smaller cones maybe slightly set off to the right in a straight line so that the returner needs to run between the cones in a weaving manner to score a touchdown.
